WYCKOFF, N.J. -- The Wyckoff Family YMCA and the Franklin Lakes Mayors Wellness Campaign have announced the fourth annual Franklin Lakes Scenic Half-Marathon & 5K, held Sunday, September 25 -- and registration is now open.
The scenic half marathon and 5K through Franklin Lakes are USATF-certified races. They'll begin and end at the Franklin Lakes Community Center, on Vichiconti Avenue.
The early-bird race fee for the half-marathon is $60, and $75 from July 1 until registration is full. For the 5K, it's $20 early-bird and $25. Sponsorship opportunities are also available; check the registration form for details.
Awards will be presented to the top three overall males and females as well as age-group winners in 10-year increments. Half marathon age groups are 19 and under, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, and 60 and older. The 5K age groups are 13 and under, 14-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, and 60 and older.
Due to the nature of the courses, strollers and headphones are prohibited.
Check-in and bag pickup for the races is at 6:15 p.m. The half marathon will begin at 8 a.m, and the 5K will begin five minutes later.
Proceeds from the event will benefit the Franklin Lakes Mayors Wellness Campaign, which promotes healthy activities and well-being in the Franklin Lakes community, and the Y's newly-named community outreach initiative, "Wyckoff Y Cares."
The initiative will provides immediate care to those facing adversity and hardship in the community. That care will range from financial support, Y programs and services, and mobilizing individual volunteers to provide hands-on assistance.
