Lyndhurst Comedian: New Jersey Gets A Bad Wrap

LYNDHURST, N.J. — Comedian Alex Csedrik of Lyndhurst has been doing comedy for five years, but he still hears the same jokes about New Jersey.

"New York comics tend to view traveling to Jersey as like a professional being sent down to the minors," Csedrik said.

Csedrik is one of the many comics performing at Lyndhurst's upcoming comedy night at The City Lounge.

"There’s a lot of open mics east of Lyndhurst: Hoboken, Jersey City and of course when you get to the city there’s a mecca for comedians, but there weren’t many opportunities for west of that area," Comedian Rob Garrison said.

Garrison is hosting the show and put it together after successfully running bi-weekly open mics at the venue for the past year.

He booked comics hoping that the show would have something for everyone.

"I attempted my best to represent everybody. Half of the comedians performing are women," Garrison said, adding that he tried to get comics with different backgrounds and styles.

"I wanted to try to make it a little more diverse. If it’s an all white show with all white men, I feel I would’ve been limiting to that demographic."

The show will take place on Thursday, March 9 at The City Lounge on 455 Valley Brook Avenue in Lyndhurst. Tickets are $10 dollars and can be purchased online or at the door. There is no drink minimum.
