Wyckoff Workshop Provides Positive Parenting Skills

WYCKOFF, N.J. --  The Sicomac PTO & the Sicomac Wellness Committee in Wyckoff  will offer four workshops on positive parenting skills starting on Tuesday Feb. 9 at the Sicomac Elementary School.

The following presentations will be offered:

  • Why Kids Do What They Do: Feb. 9. The basic principles of social learning theory are presented as they apply to everyday situations in the home.
  • To Improve Your Child’s Self-Esteem: Feb. 23. The focus of this section is on the importance of reinforcing the positive behaviors of children.
  • Stop The Yelling and Gain Cooperation: March 9. Parents are taught how to observe and describe behaviors specifically and accurately.
  • Changing Bad Behaviors For Good Ones: March 31. The importance of reinforcing and teaching to appropriate behaviors, teaching to inappropriate behaviors, and teaching new skills and values.

Presentations will run from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. in the school gym with a question and answer session that will run until 9 p.m.
