Norwood's Callahan's Competes For DVlicious 'Best Hot Dog In Bergen'

NORWOOD, N.J. -- The classic hot dog, in all its bronzed, charred perfection, holds a special place in the hearts – and stomachs -- of most Americans, especially come summer. July, in fact, is National Hot Dog Month, thanks to the designation by the National Hot Dog and Sausage Council.

Callahan's, 10 Broad St, Norwood, (844) 468-3641, (844) 468-3641

Frank Talk: Aside from the star of the show -- Callahan's delicious pork/beef blend of ripper style (fried) hot dogs -- the eatery, which opened April 26 -- offers a wide variety of homemade toppings created by Chef Danny Fabian and Owner Daniel DeMiglio.

It should be noted, too, that Callahan's of Norwood is run separately from Callahan's of Fort Lee. The company has been in business specializing in hot dogs since 1950. Aside from the brick and mortar store, there are also two Callahan's food trucks.

Top This: There are some interesting summer hot dogs with house made toppings including pulled pork with slaw and an “over the top” bacon and salted caramel brittle with peanut butter drizzle dog and a mango chutney.

Fabian and DeMiglio come up with the various unique creations together. They focus on their own recipes, perfecting classic toppings (chili, 48-hour marinated pulled pork) and then innovate new, fun toppings from scratch with fresh seasonal and popular ingredients such as mango and bacon.
