“In order to enter the community, I must be debt free as the sisters take a vow of poverty, and cannot take on any debt. While I have paid off most of my debt … I have a little bit left to go,”  wrote on a GoFundMe page she created.

The Eastside High School graduate said she would be entering “a beautiful religious order” called the Servants of the Lord and the Virgin of Matara.

“I am asking you to consider supporting me. First, through prayer. 'Cause I could use all the prayers I can get! … And secondly, to consider supporting me financially,” she wrote.

“Just like a simple Hail Mary goes a long way, every little bit will make a difference,” she wrote.

Vargas set out with a goal of raising $2,500, and by Tuesday morning $2,514 had been donated to help her enter the convent.
