FRANKLIN LAKES, N.J. — Driven by concerns over the debris that has been left on ballfields, parks and public areas, Franklin Lakes officials are launching an anti-littering campaign.

The Mayor and Council, along with the Environmental Commission and Recreation Department, are launching “Pride in Franklin Lakes is Picking Up.”

Recreation and Parks Director Jason Robinson emphasized the need for everyone to work together to curb littering.

“It’s not someone else’s responsibility to pick up our litter," he said.

"As a team, we need to continue to keep our parks clean by pitching-in.”

Franklin Lakes Environmental Commission Chair Carole Holden believes that the campaign fits in with the goals of the commission.

“For several years now, we have been promoting the reuse and recycling of litter," she said. "It should be a part of keeping the borough sustainable as well as educating ourselves on the need to reduce, reuse and recycle.

"The campaign adds a new dimension to this effort.”
