Mittal has been named the Associate Chair of Cardiovascular Services for Valley Medical Group, Medical Director of The Valley Hospital’s Snyder Center for Comprehensive Atrial Fibrillation, and Director of Cardiac Research for Valley Health System. Mittal will also continue in his current roles as Director of Electrophysiology for The Valley Hospital and as a member of the Board of Trustees for Valley Medical Group.

As part of his appointment, Mittal will be working with hospital staff to ensure the optimal delivery of clinical services. He hopes to apply strategies for clinical cost management, utilization management, quality assurance, evidence-based medicine initiatives, medical protocol development, electronic health record implementation and system-based practice initiatives.

The Valley Hospital’s Snyder Center for Comprehensive Atrial Fibrillation, funded by a generous gift to The Valley Hospital Foundation, has been established to improve the care of patients with atrial fibrillation (AFib), a condition characterized by irregular or rapid heartbeat. In many cases, the illness is brought on by factors such as stress, hypertension, sleep apnea and obesity. As part of patients' care, patients with AFib who are seen at Valley’s Snyder Center will be evaluated by a multidisciplinary team of experts.

As the newly appointed Director of Cardiac Research, Mittal will work closely with the research administrative staff and cardiology community to ensure that Valley’s patients have access to first-class clinical trials and the latest technology.

Mittal, who resides in Manhattan, earned his B.A. and M.D. degrees from Boston University, and completed his residency at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. He then took part in a fellowship in Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology at the New York Presbyterian Hospital-Weill Cornell Medical Center, and has been practicing at The Valley Hospital since 2006.
