WYCKOFF, N.J. -- The Northern New Jersey Community Foundation's (NNJCF) Andrea Tilbian Halejian Memorial Fund recently presented a grant of $1,000 to the Fund for Armenian Relief (FAR).
The NNJCF donor fund memorializes Andrea Tilbian Halejian, who lived in Wyckoff with her family, and contributes to qualified charitable organizations she supported.
"The Fund for Armenian Relief was chosen because Andrea supported the efforts of this organization,'' ," said Alexis Halejian, a member of the Andrea Tilbian Halejian Memorial Fund's advisory committee. "FAR caters its general relief and development programs to the changing needs of the people of Armenia. Currently, FAR concentrates its efforts on humanitarian aid, social and economic opportunity and development, child protection, healthcare and education,"
Halejian was a vibrant and impassioned wife, mother, daughter, niece, aunt, cousin and friend. She died on June 28, 2014, at the age of 61. An active and enthusiastic leader in her church, St. Leon Armenian Church of Fair Lawn, Andrea directed many valuable programs to include cooking for a community shelter, running twice-annual blood drives, co-chairing Diocesan assemblies, teaching Sunday School and supporting Camp Nubar activities and events.
The Andrea Tilbian Halejian Memorial Fund is established to sustain those qualified charitable organizations that Andrea supported. Grants may also be given to a graduating high school senior of Armenian descent who best demonstrates Andrea's values.
