FRANKLIN LAKES, N.J. — Students at a Franklin Lakes preschool are bringing smiles to area hospital patients.
Youngsters at The Learning Experience made “Hope Bags” for sick children at Ridgewood’s The Valley Hospital.
The students decorated the bags and filled them with bubbles, crayons and coloring books to lighten the spirits of children facing incredible challenges.
Teachers spoke at length to the preschoolers about the importance of reaching out to children about having empathy for other people, even strangers.
“It is so important to me to teach our young children compassion for others,” owner Dilek Yesilyurt said.
“I feel a huge sense of happiness and pride knowing that our students, as young as 3, can understand why we must help others and that we are making a positive impact for sick children.”
