Colonial Road was scheduled to remain shut down between Franklin Avenue and Route 208 from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. or work on fire hydrants in front of the Excelsior townhouse development, Borough Administrator Gregory Hart said Monday. The hydrants are a necessary addition as the 18-unit development continues toward completion, Hart told Daily Voice.

Meanwhile, DeKorte Drive and Bender Court were closed to traffic because of the installation of a sanitary sewer line.

"The sewers [work] absolutely will be a big benefit for the municipal complex," Hart said, noting the roads' proximity to the borough headquarters.

The detour routes are marked with sign, and monitored by county inspectors and Franklin Lakes police, according to the borough website. The construction doesn't restrict access to Route 208 north or south.
