FRANKLIN LAKES, N.J. -- Do you recycle the cap from those pesky water bottles or throw it away?
That's always the question most people wonder about.
Well, thanks to the Franklin Lakes Recycling Coordinator Liz Morris, the answer is, yes they can be recycled.
Morris said that due to an improved sorting processes, it is possible to recycle plastic bottle caps with no added effort. Just empty the contents of the bottle out and rinse it clean, put the cap on tightly and toss it in the recycling bin.
The same goes for shampoo bottles, laundry detergent containers, peanut butter jars and most plastic bottles found commonly in the home.
Morris does have one request, don’t put the caps in the recycling separate from the bottles. When this happens the caps end up in the trash where they definitely are not wanted.
