Rain, Snow, Sleet, Hail: Nothing Closes Allendale Bar & Grill

ALLENDALE, N.J. — The rest of West Allendale Avenue in Allendale may have looked like a ghost town Tuesday, but the food, beer and laughter were flowing at the Allendale Bar & Grill.

The bar was buzzing at the Allendale & Grill.

Snowstorm or no snowstorm, the wait staff was bustling at Allendale Bar & Grill. The first couple came in at 2:30 p.m. After that, there was a steady stream of customers.

The beloved eatery makes it a point to stay open in all weather, said Owner Chris Kunisch.

“When Sandy hit, we had to close because we had no power, but other than that, we’ve always stayed open,” he said.

“It’s a service to the town and the community and a tradition we like to keep going.”

At one table were Jen Brady of Allendale and Al Daloisio of Wyckoff who were discussing matters relevant to a nonprofit they both serve.

They were supposed to have a board meeting for Oasis – A Haven for Women and Children in Paterson.

Thanks to Winter Storm Stella, it was cancelled. Still, there were things to discuss.

“Since we’re not there, we’re here,” Brady said.

At another table the O’Hagan family of Waldwick were out celebrating.

“Today’s my birthday so we had to come out,” said mom Megan O’Hagan.

“Otherwise, I was snowed in with the family. It’s a good day.”
