Leonard J. Dykman, 77, Of Wyckoff

WYCKOFF, N.J. -- Leonard J. Dykman, 77, of Wyckoff, died Sept. 30. 

He was born in Prospect Park and he has lived in Wyckoff for the past 40 years. 

He served his country honorably in the U.S. Army and was the owner of Dykman and Dykstra Painting & Wallcovering in Wyckoff. 

An active member of Unity Christian Reformed Church, formerly Second Christian Reformed Church, he served as both deacon and elder at both churches, as well as a member of both their men’s choir groups. He was president of the Christian Burial Fund and served several times on the board of directors of the Eastern Christian School Association. A long time volunteer at Ditto, he loved fishing, golfing, refinishing furniture and gardening, especially taking care of his precious “Dalia” flowers. 

He is survived by his wife, Betty; children, Karen Noordeloos and her husband Steve, Susan D’Ambra and her husband Dennis, David Dykman and his wife Mary Beth and Lynn Kinahan and her husband Nick; and grandchildren, Casey, Mitchel, Mallory, Kelly, Charlotte, Madison, Nicholas, Joshua, Sean, Jonathan and Jessica. 

The family will receive family and friends  from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at Vander Plaat-Vermeulen Memorial Home, 530 High Mountain Road, Franklin Lakes. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Unity Christian Reformed Church, 339 N. 11th Street, Prospect Park. 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in his memory to the Eastern Christian School Association, 50 Oakwood Ave., North Haledon, NJ 07508 or the National Kidney Foundation, 30 E. 33rd St., New York, NY 10016.
