OAKLAND, N.J. -- Oakland resident Martin R. Forrest died Sunday Jan. 24. He was 86.
Raised in Hawthorne, Forrest was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He was a partner in Precision Products in Paterson for 12 years. He owned and operated Beamar Electronics for 20 years, until his retirement in 1990.
Forrest was an avid fisherman and race car fan. He loved to travel, and he and his wife toured the four corners of the world.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Bernice; children Bernice Staudinger, Martin Forrest, Annemarie Mitchell and Patricia Forrest; and grandchildren Amy and Kate Forrest and Tyler and Connor Staudinger.
Forrest was predeceased by his son Stephen; grandson Bryan; and parents Thomas Forrest and Florence Blockburger Forrest.
Visiting hours will be from 3-6 p.m. Friday, Jan. 29 at Oakland Memorial Home, 330 Ramapo Valley Road, Oakland. A funeral Mass will be conducted at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 30 at St. Mary's Church in Pompton Lakes, followed by burial at Ponds Cemetery in Oakland.
