Rev. Howard Francis O’Shea, 88, Of Wyckoff

WYCKOFF, N.J. -- The Rev. Howard Francis O’Shea OFM, a Franciscan priest and a former Catholic chaplain at Brown University, died in Wyckoff Saturday, March 26. He was 88.

O’Shea, a professed Franciscan for 62 years and a priest for 57, was a member of the Franciscan Friars of Holy Name Province.

O’Shea was born in Cambridge, Mass., to the late Edward and Mary O'Shea.

He was pre-deceased by his brothers, Edward and Robert.

O’Shea is survived by his Franciscan brethren, cousins, nieces and nephews and hundreds of friends.

A World War II U.S. Army veteran, O’Shea graduated from Harvard College in 1949 and became a priest in 1958.

Services for O’Shea were earlier this week at Saint Anthony Shrine in Boston.

Burial took place at Saint Joseph Cemetery in West Roxbury..
