Richard J. Bozzo, 93, Of Wyckoff

WYCKOFF, N.J. —Richard J. Bozzo, 93, of Wyckoff, died peacefully surrounded by his family Sunday, July, 17, 2016.

Born in Paterson, Bozzo lived there until coming to Wyckoff 55 years ago.

He was a design engineer with Worldwide Engineering in Allendale before his retirement 25 years ago.

Bozzo served his country proudly as a forward radio operator with the 284th Field Artillery Battalion in the U.S. Army, serving during World War II in the European Theater. He was a member of the VFW Post 1049 in Waldwick and a parishioner of Church of the Nativity in Midland Park.

Surviving is his wife of 73 years, Rae Marie (nee Morelli); children, Richard E. Bozzo and his wife Elaine and Rae Marie and her husband Joseph Kopfer. He also is survived by four grandchildren, Jessica (Jeff), Rae Anne (Craig), Brett and Meghann; and three great-grandchildren, Jacqueline, Carlie and Ashley.

Funeral services will be conducted at 9 a.m. Thursday at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home, 257 Godwin Ave., Wyckoff. There will be a 10 a.m. funeral Mass at Church of the Nativity, 315 Prospect St., Midland Park. Interment will be in the Maryrest Cemetery in Mahwah.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to VFW Post 1049, PO Box 215, Waldwick, NJ 07463.
