2nd Murder Arrest In 24 Hours: Paterson PD Nabs Accused Killer Of Boy, 16

PATERSON, N.J. -- Members of the Paterson Police Warrant Squad nabbed a 21-year-old city man wanted on charges of killing a 16-year-old boy in February at his home Tuesday morning, authorities said.

It was the department's second murder arrest in less than 24 hours -- and the second in the Feb. 4 shooting death of Kasir Davis and the wounding of a 17-year-old companion at an Auburn Street apartment house that police said was being used as a drug den.

Detectives Ed Lugo, Ralph Gonzalez and Joseph Thomas took Zaheem Beal into custody just after 9 a.m. Tuesday and charged him with murder and attempted murder, as well as robbery and weapons possession, city Police Director Jerry Speziale said.

The investigation was continuing, the director noted.
