Workers were finally able to remove the van just before 5 p.m., after utility crews untangled the wires that fell after the 4:30 a.m. crash at Hollywood Avenue.

Police Chief Michael Cioffi was right when he told Daily Voice early Wednesday that it would be an all-day job.

"None of the wires broke and the power wasn't interrupted," Cioffi said. "[The driver] is lucky he got out of it OK."
