"He just laid down on the tracks," a witness said after the 11 a.m. incident just west of Paterson Avenue between the Rutherford and Westmont train stations.

Authorities still hadn't been able to identify the man as of late Tuesday afternoon. Responders said he wasn't carrying identification.

About three dozen commuters from No. 1151 -- which left Hoboken and was headed to Suffern -- were being taken to another station by shuttle bus, NJ Transit's Lisa Torbic told Daily Voice.

Service remained suspended between Broadway in Fair Lawn and Secaucus while NJ Transit police investigated, she said.
