Midland Park Assault Sends Man To Jail, Woman To Hospital

MIDLAND PARK, N.J. -- An assault in Midland Park left one person hospitalized and another jailed.

"The woman ran inside [the tavern] for safety," a source said. "The staff and patrons all protected her and kept the two apart."

Police and EMS from surrounding towns responded Thursday night to the Central Avenue location of Legends Corner Pub.

"The woman ran inside [the tavern] for safety," a source said. "The staff and patrons all protected her and kept the two apart."

Both were taken by ambulance -- one to the Valley Hospital in Ridgewood and the other to New Bridge Medical Center in Paramus -- responders said.

Allen Zachery Valdez, 20, remained held in the Bergen County Jail early Friday.

The 6-foot-4-inch, 250-pound Valdez was charged with aggravated assault, child endangerment and two weapons possession counts.
