YOU READ IT HERE FIRST: Vandals cut down a two-story tree in front of a Wyckoff resident’s home, sectioned off logs and tossed them through the back window of a car parked in the driveway, police said today.

Wyckoff police began investigating the bizarre vandalism after responding to the Burma Road home just after 11 o’clock last night, Police Chief Benjamin C. Fox said.

The vandals apparently used a chainsaw to cut down the 20-foot, 8-inch-thick tree, Fox said.

They then threw logs through the back window of a 2009 Volkswagen Jetta that was parked in the driveway, damaging the interior as well as the window, the chief said.

They also apparently threw logs at the taillights, damaging them, he said.

Anyone with information about the crime is asked to contact the Wyckoff Police Department Detective Bureau: (201) 891-2121
