Darren Ferwerda, 37, surrendered on Wednesday, more than three months after investigators seized various items from his Demarest Avenue home, Bergen County Prosecutor Gurbir S. Grewal said Thursday.
His Cyber Crimes Unit investigation continued for several months, Grewal said, before authorities determined that Ferwerda “utilized the Internet to access, view, and collect sexually explicit images and videos of prepubescent and pubescent male and female children.”
He was released without bail pending a Dec. 14 first appearance in Central Judicial Processing Court in Hackensack on child endangerment charges, the prosecutor said.
