Officers stopped the 2007 Volvo SUV on I-95 near the lower level of the George Washington Bridge around 9:30 p.m. Friday after noticing that the rear plate couldn't be read and the windows were illegally tinted, the authority's Joseph Pentangelo said.
After the driver admitted that there were weapons in the car, the officers found a .25-caliber semi-automatic pistol in the glove compartment and the knife in the rear, Pentangelo said.
They arrested Jonathan Martinez-More, 27, of Middletown, NY on weapons charges and issued him summonses before releasing him.
