Officer Vincent Cooper stopped the black Jeep on Engle Street near Hudson Avenue after spotting it near East Clinton just before 11 p.m. June 5, Capt. Michael deMoncada said.

Cooper took the driver, 36-year-old Joan Magee of Fort Lee, into custody after she failed several field sobriety tests, deMoncada said.

At police headquarters, Magee “refused to provide a breath sample and was subsequently charged with speeding, failure to keep right, driving while intoxicated and refusing a breath test,” the captain said.

She was released to the custody of a friend after being served with summons for those offenses, he said.
