Wayne Pedestrian, 59, Struck, Dragged

WAYNE, N.J. -- A 59-year-old Wayne woman struck and dragged several hundred feet Monday night before the driver realized what had happened, responders said.

The female driver remained at the scene after stopping near the Sherwin-Williams Paint Store.

The woman was crossing a service near Mountainview Boulevard off Route 23 when she was struck around 6:30 p.m., witnesses said.

The victim was still alive when she was taken to the trauma unit at St. Joseph's Regional Medical Center in Paterson, responders said.

The Passaic County Prosecutor's Office was investigating.
