Would-Be Franklin Lakes Bank Robber Bolts, Police Say

FRANKLIN LAKES, N.J. -- A man wearing a mask and a glove on one hand ran into a Franklin Lakes bank, saw all the tellers behind security glass and ran out, police said.

Franklin Lakes police arrested two men this week in unrelated matters -- a Paterson man for child support and a Maplewood man for possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia in the high school parking lot.

Employees at the Chase Bank on Franklin Lake Road described the man who entered and left Wednesday afternoon as white, about 6 feet tall and wearing the mask, glove, a black hooded sweatshirt and black jeans, Detective Lt. John Bakelaar said.

Wyckoff police and the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office assisted, Bakelaar said.
