Wyckoff Fire Department Reminds Residents To Clear Snow-Impacted Hydrants

WYCKOFF, N.J. -- Although warm weather has lingered into the holiday months, the Wyckoff Fire Department Chief Lou Graglia is reminding residents to prepare for a safer winter and shovel any snow accumulation around the borough’s 573 fire hydrants.

If a hydrant is blocked, it can delay responders and result in more fire damage.

Homeowners have a legal responsibility to clear hydrants after every snowstorm if the hydrant is on their property. Residents are asked to shovel snow from the perimeter of a fire hydrant in the neighborhood and make sure to help those neighbors that are not able to do this for themselves.
