It's all part of Fire Prevention Week, which began Sunday, Oct. 4. This year's theme: "Hear the beep when you sleep. Every Bedroom needs a working smoke alarm."

Planned activities include demonstrations, utilizing the Bergen County Smoke Trailer, fire engine rides and various other events.

Kids can also play with a real firehose.

More importantly, firefighters will provide information on smoke alarms, fire prevention tips and hand-outs for kids.

"It is so important to make people aware of the dangers of fire and smoke inhalation," Fire Chief Lou Graglia emphasized.

The department launched the safety seminar at 1 Scott Plaza for the first time last year.
