The candidates – Kathleen O’Keefe, Ryan Bolton and Rob Ferretti – are challenging Republican incumbents Linda Schaefer, William Marsala and Jaime Matteo Landis for three open seats on the council. Both the Democrats and Republicans ran unopposed in the primary election.

"This is a local race with an emphasis on local issues," Brennan Gray, who is co-managing the campaign with Jess Diaz, said in a press release announcing the campaign.

The campaign will focus on issues such as prioritizing government transparency, producing a long-term, fiscally-sound management plan, and protecting and preserving Ringwood’s natural beauty, according to the release.

O’Keefe, a corporate coach at Mercedes-Benz, has lived in Ringwood for 22 years.

“I believe the Council should work to develop a long-term plan that helps address vacant retail properties and property values that aren’t rebounding as quickly as neighboring communities,” she said.

Ferretti, an 11-year resident, said he believes “the health and welfare of our community and the respect and sustainability of our natural environment should be the priority.”

Bolton, who has lived in the borough for six years, said he values consensus building.

“Local politics is no place for the divisiveness we see on the national level. We shop at the same grocery store, dine at the same restaurants. We are all in this together,” he said.

The campaign will hold a number of “Coffee With Candidates” events to meet with residents leading up to the November election.
