WYCKOFF, N.J. -- For Laura Bilodeau and the Wyckoff office of Weichert Realty, the community is more than a selling point to entice prospective buyers. For them, it's where they call home, and a place they work tirelessly to make the best it can be.
"At the end of the day, its important to give back to the communities you live and work in," said Bilodeau, an agent of seven years. "We want to make it a stronger community and be as great as it can possibly be. There are always people who can use a little assistance, it’s all about helping our fellow neighbors. We have been very fortunate; it’s nice to see what teamwork can accomplish and inspire other to giving back."
Giving back is a yearlong effort for the Weichert team. In the holiday season, the office collects toys for Stockings with Care, which provides toys to area children who otherwise may not have anything waiting for them under the tree.
The office also collects donations for the Love Fund, which helps Wyckoff residents who are struggling financially. "The Love Fund chooses the recipient of the money, and for us its nice to know our donation is directly impacting the neighborhood we sell in and the people we sell too," Bilodeau said.
The Wyckoff office also coordinates a food drive in the spring, since this is when the pantry runs low on their food supplies. During 'Stuff the Bug' Weichert in Wyckoff challenges residents to fill a yellow VW Bug with groceries. The sales team sets up outside of the grocery store and accepts donations of non-perishable goods and gift cards.
As the weather warms, Weichert hosts an Arbor Day tree handout where they give passersby on Franklin Avenue free trees and ask them to plant them. The office also made a donation to The River Homeless Ministries in Hackensack during the year.
"We want people to have a positive reflection of the company and know that we care about the community," Bilodeau said. "We want residents to associate Weichert Realtors as being their neighborhood specialist! The goal is to make sure everyone has a positive experience in town, whether its buying or selling a house or a participating in a community event."
