The process of becoming a "School to Watch" began in the spring of last year when Principal Chris Iasiello contacted the local Schools to Watch organization to share the district’s interest in applying for this distinction.

The process included a preliminary site visit, a self-judged assessment by all teachers, a 30-page application and a final, in depth investigation into the school's instructional practice by  seven-member panel.

The School to Watch Award is a three-year designation and requires re-application.

Eisenhower Middle School will be formally acknowledged at a conference in Washington, D.C. on March 11.
