Bail Reform: Accused Bergenfield Porch Pirate Released, Returns, Re-Arrested
An accused porch pirate who Bergenfield police caught in the act went right back to the same neighborhood and began casing vehicles for burglaries hours after being released, authorities said.
Police responding to a call of someone swiping packages from a Hillside Avenue porch discovered thefts from three other homes, as well, Detective Lt. William Duran said Friday.
Officer found Dalton Cardone, 21, of Mantua in Gloucester County soon after, Duran said.
Cadone had “stolen the packages, opened them and discarded several of them on the street,” he said.

Couple In Stolen U-Haul On I-84 Rest Area Had Infant, Used Heroin Bags, Needles, Police Say
New York State Police troopers arrested a man and woman allegedly driving a stolen U-Haul who were in possession of an infant, used bags of heroin and hypodermic needles, investigators said.
Troopers from Middletown were dispatched to the Wallkill Rest Area on I-84 in Wallkill on Tuesday, Jan. 14, where there was a report of a stolen U-Haul.

Oakland PD: Drug-Using Ex-Con From NY Was Carrying Gun
An ex-con nabbed by Oakland police on drug charges was carrying a handgun, authorities said.
They first grabbed Logan Dipaolo, 24, of Chester, NY, after receiving a call shortly before 9 a.m. Monday of a man who at first was laying outside a vehicle on Franklin Avenue, Police Detective Lt. Christian Eldridge said.
Seeing a responding officer, Dipaolo got up and ran into the woods near Route 287, Eldridge said.
Officer Christopher Tinio and Detective Robert Hintzen quickly got him into custody, then found several heroin folds and hypodermic needles in his car, the lieutenant said.

Man Tased After Resisting Arrest, Attempting To Escape From Officers, Police Say
A 30-year-old Nanuet man was arrested by Ramapo police, but not before being tased to get him under control.
The incident took place around 5:45 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 23, when officers responded to a report of a suspicious person on S. Pascack Road, in the Village of Chestnut Ridge, the department said.
Once on the scene, officers located the unnamed man who appeared to be under the influence of drugs, police said.
The man gave officers a fictitious name and date of birth.
A search of the man turned up hypodermic needles and a substance believed to be fentanyl, police said.

A Fishkill man has been charged after he was caught with heroin and cocaine in Putnam, according to a report from the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office.

Man, Woman Caught With Drugs After Traffic Stop In Putnam
A man and woman are facing drug charges after a traffic stop in Putnam, authorities say.
Police observed a vehicle commit a traffic violation on Oscawana Lake Road in the Town of Putnam Valley and pulled the vehicle over on Friday, Jan. 25 around 8:30 p.m.
Further investigation revealed that the vehicle container heroin, hypodermic needles, and marijuana. The vehicle’s driver, 25-year-old James Coffey of Staten Island, and the passenger, 28-year-old Raven Taverna of Peekskill, were arrested.

Long Drive From Home: Franklin Lakes Police Bust Three In Route 208 Heroin, Oxy Stop
It’s more than an hour and a half drive to Paterson from the homes of a Pennsylvania trio whom Franklin Lakes police said they caught with heroin, Oxycodone and hypodermic needles during a traffic stop.
