FRANKLIN LAKES, N.J. – In the last few months, Kim Andersen has runs lots of errands.
The Franklin Lakes resident has been busy shopping for groceries, picking up prescriptions and shipping packages.
But the groceries, prescriptions and packages are not for her own family. They are for people throughout Bergen, Passaic and Morris Counties who are strapped for time and need a helping hand.
Andersen launched her business, Errands by Kim, in November. She wanted to find a way to make money and still have the flexibility to care for her two young daughters.
The venture, “kind of took off … I am amazed at the positive response,” she told Daily Voice.
Andersen managed to tap into a definite need in North Jersey.
Between commuting, working and obligations, “We are so stressed, overworked and tired, and there is never enough time,” she said.
Being able to “lighten somebody’s burden,” is very rewarding, she said.
“I love helping people. I love to take the burden off of them and to see people relax and see people have family time,” she said.
Andersen’s clients range from mothers of young children – who struggle to bundle up the kids and take them out for a short errand – to small business owners who need a courier or gofer.
Andersen also spends her days doing things like waiting for deliveries or utility hook-ups, helping with party preparations, invitations and thank you notes, picking up mail and newspapers for folks when they are out of town, and arranging to sell items on Craigslist and eBay. She basically does any task that people need help with.
“I can’t tell you how many gifts I’ve wrapped,” she said.
Andersen said the best part of it all is seeing her clients, “relieved, happy and less stressed.”
Since launching Errands by Kim, Andersen has served people in the following Bergen and Passaic County communities: Franklin Lakes; Oakland; Wyckoff; Waldwick; Midland Park; Ridgewood; Ramsey; Hawthorne; North Haledon; Wayne; Wanaque; Glen Rock; Ramsey; Ho-Ho-Kus; Park Ridge; Montvale; Woodcliff Lake; Paramus; and Hackensack.
