Rita (Mooney) Lapinski, 92, Longtime Wyckoff Resident

WYCKOFF, N.J. -- Rita (Mooney) Lapinski, of Wyckoff, died on Saturday, Jan. 14. She was 92.

Born in Bangor, Maine, Lapinski has lived in Wyckoff for the past 68 years. Before she retired, she was a dental assistant for Dr. Norman Phillips, in Wyckoff. She was a parishioner of St. Elizabeth's Church, in Wyckoff, and actively involved in its ministries.

"Her family was always the priority for Rita, as well as, all her 'surrogate children and grandchildren,'" information from the funeral home noted. "Rita will always be remembered for her gentle smile, quilting skills and great-tasting freshly-baked pies."

She is survived by her four daughters, Rita Auld, Mary Lynn Saliski, Marian Koetsier and Dorothy Van Der Horn; six sons Joseph, John, Albert, Thomas, Daniel and Michael; 28 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. 

Lapinski is also survived by her sister, Dorothy McEniry, and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members.

She was preceded by her husband, Joseph Lapinski.

A funeral mass was celebrated on Thursday morning, Jan. 19, at St. Elizabeth's Church, in Wyckoff. Interment was in Maryrest Cemetery, in Mahwah. Vander Plaat Funeral Home, in Wyckoff, assisted with arrangements.
