“He was a good cop and a great academy instructor,” a close friend told CLIFFVIEW PILOT this afternoon.

A Senior Corrections Officer at the
Mountainview Youth Correctional Facility in Annandale, Bailey was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer a little over a year ago and fought an intense battle throughout.

He was placed into hospice and brought home in May to be with his wife and three-year-old son.

Bailey’s medical retirement, which took several months to obtain, only just kicked in this month.

Latoya S. Edwards-Bailey told CLIFFVIEW PILOT early last month that David was holding up well.

That was just a day before the Officer Down 9th Annual Motorcycle Run, which raised money to help defray the family’s bills.

Those who’ve contributed or raised money also hope it can help guarantee that little Aidan Bailey goes to college someday.

Toward that end, the MYCF is sponsoring the First Annual David Bailey Golf Classic at the Beaver Brook Country Club in Annandale on Aug. 24.
