WYCKOFF, N.J. — More than 1,000 participants turned out for the Wyckoff Education Foundation 5K Run today, Oct. 18, one of the organizations biggest fundraisers of the year.
"We get great turnout from all the schools, a lot of help from the community," WEF trustee Michelle Arone told Daily Voice. "Everything is turning out great."
Runners departed Eisenhower Middle School Saturday morning for the 5K, followed by a family walk.
The WEF, founded in 1990, provides additional funding and resources for Wyckoff schools. Money from the 5K goes toward grants and scholarships, Arone said.
"It's a combination of both the school system getting together with the township and showing tree community spirit," Wyckoff Mayor Kevin J. Rooney told Daily Voice, noting that the run was paired with the annual health fair
The indoor health fair also provide a convenient to come in from the chill, with temperatures around 50 degrees Saturday.
